The Spirits of Optimism is a bourbon and whiskey tasting event presented by the Lebanon Optimist Club to benefit the John McLean Advisory Council.
Our Gatsby-themed event will feature bourbons and whiskeys from Ohio Distilleries. We will enjoy great bourbon paired with hors d'oeuvres specially chosen to complement each distillers spirits. In addition we'll have great music and entertainment provided by the talented folks of Lebanon Theater Company, a live auction, and raffle. Dress up in your favorite 1920s attire and join the fun.
When we decided to organize our tasting fundraiser, The “Spirits” of Optimism, our club members decided to choose one organization to receive the profits from the event. We have decided to partner with the Warren County Juvenile Court in support of the John McLean Advisory Council for our first “Spirits” of Optimism event.
The John McLean Advisory Council honors the memory of Supreme Court Justice John McLean by assisting youth in Warren County – the delinquent, dependent, needy and neglected - who are in need of programs and resources to help them grow through their challenges and become productive members of society. Our Lebanon Optimist Club is excited to support the John McLean Advisory Council in their mission to help youth overcome challenges caused by circumstance or poor decisions by providing means for growth, opportunity, and productive adulthood.

DownloadJust 18 months after Brain Brew was created, our Bourbons won 2 of 8 Double Gold medals at the North American Bourbon Championship. As we celebrated, we talked about how much fun it was customizing our Bourbons to our taste preference.
A simple idea was born … To Enable EVERYONE to Create Their OWN Custom Bourbon. At the Spirits of Optimism event, you will create your own custom bourbon blend with a group of 6-8 people.
155 years ago Lewis Hayner opened a small distillery on the banks of the Miami River in Troy, Ohio. Hayner Distilling grew into one of the largest distilleries in Ohio and the largest mail order whiskey business in America. Known for their superior Bourbon and Ryes, Hayner was shipped directly to doorsteps all across America. Like all distilleries, Hayner Distilling closed in 1920 with prohibition. 100 years later, Hayner Distilling has been reborn! From a few surviving bottles we analyzed the original whiskey and working with Bardstown Bourbon Company created a blend complementary to the original Hayner.
We know Lewis would be proud as we share Hayner's history with a new generation of whiskey drinkers and once again bottle incredible tasting whiskey near those same river banks. Enjoy a taste at our Spirits of Optimism event
The Industrial Revolution dies at the beginning of our driveway. We’re about old-fashioned handcrafted spirits. A “true sip of history”, our whiskeys are uniquely small batch where art and science and heritage combine to produce a spirit like no other. Award winning, our Legendary Ohio Frontier Whiskeys are created with a passionate dedication to authenticity- slowly and thoughtfully crafted. Smooth rich whiskeys created by hand, one batch at a time, with an honest regard for the timelessness from which our spirits flow: original 200 year old recipe, artisanal spring water and our 1820 Pot Stills- the oldest operating stills in America today. Get your sip at our Spirits of Optimism event.
The White Dog Distilling Company started almost ten years ago as a dream of making quality handcrafted spirits. From my first trip down the Kentucky Bourbon Trail I became fascinated with the process of making Bourbon and other spirits. The more I visited the many distilleries in Kentucky, and the smaller craft distilleries in several states, I became convinced that someday I would handcraft my own spirits.
Starting with only an eight gallon still and a passion for creativity, I have created a variety of fine spirits, using locally grown grains and ingredients where possible. My dream finally became reality in May of 2018 when I purchased a small craft distillery in Middletown, Ohio formerly known as Liberty Spirits. With its 100 gallon still, I am now able to fulfill my dream of producing high quality spirits to be enjoyed by all. Enjoy a taste at our Spirits of Optimism event.
